We had the privilege of participating in the Family Literacy Day hosted by DeKalb County School at Indian Creek Elementary School. This special event brought families and students together to celebrate the importance of reading and learning in community, and gave us the perfect opportunity to share a powerful message: “No to Bullying.”
Our participation: a play with impact
With the talent and dedication of our incredible volunteers, we presented a new play based on the book “The Bright Boy Changes the Girl’s World.” More than 80 boys and girls enjoyed an educational and entertaining experience, where the characters from the book came to life to teach important lessons about:
💡 Empathy: How to put yourself in someone else’s shoes.
🤝 Friendship: Building positive relationships based on respect.
🚫 Rejection of bullying: Identifying it, confronting it, and preventing it.
A lasting impact
The play not only captured the students’ attention, but also opened up space to reflect on how their actions can change the world of others. At the end of the presentation, the children participated in a guided discussion, sharing ideas and committing to creating a safer and more respectful environment at their school.
